David Stark Design and Production, New York, NY

David Stark is a renowned New York-based event producer, designer, and author, as well as President and Creative Director of David Stark Design and Production. This full-service event design and planning firm is celebrated for the innovative, imaginative events it creates for a wide range of high-wattage celebrity clients such as Beyoncé Knowles, Martha Stewart, Mariska Hargitay, Glenn Close and Jon Stewart, major corporations such as Target, TBS and Condé Nast, as well as high-visibility fund-raising galas for the nation’s most elite not-for-profit organizations including The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and The Metropolitan Opera

Stark’s latest book, David Stark: The Art of the Party, was released in May 2013 and published by Monacelli Press. David Stark: The Art of the Party is a visually stunning monograph that documents David Stark Design and Production’s design philosophies, conceptual process, and breadth of work put forth since the company’s inception in 2005. His previous books include David Stark Design, Napkins with a Twist (Artisan, 2006), To Have & to Hold: Magical Wedding Bouquets (Artisan, 2005), and Wild Flowers: Projects and Inspirations (Clarkson Potter).

In May 2013, Stark also introduced Paper Tales, a limited edition collection of one-of-a-kind art pieces produced exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman. The celebrity event designer and his team created the collection of sculptural worlds made from antique books and book pages protected under glass cloches in response to the excitement surrounding Stark’s use of signature paper décor elements at various high profile events.

His previous product launches include several collections for West Elm as well as The (purely paper) Flower Shoppe at the retailer’s Broadway location in New York City. After setting the standard of what the world now refers to as “the pop-up store” through his work for Target and other high profile clients, David Stark pushed the boundaries of temporary retail with a “store ambush” of Haus Interior in NYC. In 2012, Stark transformed Haus Interior into a fanciful concept store, WOOD SHOP, filled with limited edition, David Stark Design WOOD SHOP product, in place of the existing Haus Interior home décor merchandise.

“E! News,” “The Today Show,” “The View,” “Martha Stewart” and “The Nate Berkus Show” are several television shows that have called upon David to serve as a guest expert on décor, party planning, and holiday decorating projects. David and his work are often featured in publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ELLE DECOR, Real Simple, Martha Stewart Living, Martha Stewart Weddings, Glamour, Interior Design, In Style, House Beautiful, and Town & Country, as well as on a number of design-focused blogs. In 2011, David was recognized a one of BizBash’s Top 2011 Event Innovators and was honored as a Garden Design Advisory Board Member and Best Events’ Editorial Board Member.
